Host With The Most & Being The Best Guest

Posted by admin on November 1, 2021

With all the holidays right around the corner, many of us are either prepping to host holiday parties or planning to attend one. That’s why I’ve broken down my top three tips for whatever situation you find yourself in during this busy social season.

Hosting

Designate A Coat & Shoes Area—Designating a place for shoes and coats is a small hosting detail that often gets overlooked. But when you don’t have a set place for these items, guests often end up setting them down wherever and forgetting where that was. Setting a place allows you to easily return guests’ items as they leave.

Provide Extra Seating—Nothing makes guests feel more uncomfortable or unwelcomed than having no place to sit and relax. Count the number of people coming and make sure you have enough seating for everyone. If you don’t, consider asking someone to bring additional seating.

Prep The Restroom—Most hosts focus on the food and the kitchen, but the bathroom is the most visited room of your party. Make sure you have enough toilet paper and consider putting extra rolls in eyesight during your party. Also ensure your bathroom is clean, dry and that guests have soap to wash their hands with and a town to dry them off.

Visiting

Respect The Schedule—Preparing a meal of any type can be a daunting task and timing is often important when it comes to food. One of the best ways to show gratitude to your host is by sticking to their set schedule.

Bring A Thank You Gift—It might seem out of date, but a thank you gift will always be appreciated by your host. It doesn’t need to be elaborate—a simple box of chocolates, a bottle of wine or a bouquet of flowers will show the host that you’re thankful for the work they put into hosting you.

Limit Time On Electronics—We all love to scroll through social media on our phones, but when someone is hosting you they want to enjoy your company. Show your appreciation by putting down your phone or tablet and focusing on the conversation in the room.

Hope these lesser-known hosting and visiting tips help you navigate the holiday and party season a little easier this year!
